Information available from the British Copyright Council
The British Copyright is primarily a consultative body and liaison committee and does not operate a copyright advice service. If you need advice you should contact a specialist lawyer.
General questions about the copyright aspects of professional practice are better directed to relevant professional organisations or industry bodies. Many of these are Council members but there are others. Try our links for a list of useful websites.
Copyright is one form of intellectual property (IP) but there are others including patents and trade marks. The government department responsible for all of them is The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and their website at www.ipo.gov.uk is an excellent information source.
The Council recognises the very real need for quick access to straightforward information about copyright and we have prepared some information sheets which you can find on this site. We will add more whenever possible.
If you have tried every other possible source of information and your question remains unanswered then we will try to help. Enquiries should be sent to enquiries@britishcopyright.org.
