Policymaking by the British Copyright Council
The BCC's main purpose is to encourage its members to review and debate proposals for legislative change in the field of copyright and where possible to develop a consensus view. Discussions take place either in the full Council or in delegated Working Groups.
The BCC responds to proposals or consultations initiated by the British Government, the European Commission or Parliament and at International level by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). However, it also responds to papers produced by other interest groups and in some instances the BCC has been pro-active in making recommendations or urging action on Government and other policymakers.
The policy archive includes papers from 1999 onwards and on those issues which are no longer 'live'. Current policy documents are 'live' issues plus everything produced in 2006.
